Nelson Croom to help Clinical and Educational Psychologists measure children's intellectual ability

Harcourt Assessment has hired Nelson Croom to create a comprehensive online learning tool for one of their market-leading products: the fourth edition of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-IVUK).

WISC-IV^UK is used by Clinical and Educational Psychologists working with 6 to 16 year olds, to understand children's cognitive abilities in relation to current theory and research. It is the most widely-used tool for measuring children's intellectual ability.

New research and theories can fundamentally change how children's intelligence is measured and each new edition of WISC has incorporated many updates and new subtests and materials. These changes always present a challenge to busy Psychologists who have to learn how to administer the new version quickly and effectively so that they can use it to help their clients.

"Following the launch of WISC-IV^UK we were inundated with queries regarding the changes that had been made and requests for training. We offered face-to-face training as far as possible, but this isn't always the best solution for our customers as it requires them to spend vital time away from their clients. Moving the training online will remove this need and enable us to give our clients what they have been asking for. Psychologists will be able to access the training from anywhere - as long as they have an internet connection and browser - and dip in and out of the programme to focus on the areas that they need in particular. They'll be able to use it at their convenience and focus on what they need to know, when they need to know it."explains Faye Milne, Clinical and Educational Assessment Manager, Harcourt Assessment.
